Yes, someone uploaded a new version of Metacity that breaks the Ubuntu desktop.

Compiz has been updated to not be broken: 1:0.9.12+14.10.20140812-0ubuntu1 should land in Utopic soon and fix the upgrade breakage problem.

Problem has been resolved in the archives. This explicit problem can be fixed locally by reinstalling the "unity" package.

Thanks for correcting the problem. Everything is good now.  Just had to reinstally Unity.
