Initial display of keyboard shortcuts shows X to close, but does not work.

In a fresh install of 14.04 the first time the user logs on there is a keyboard shortcuts primer displayed...

I've just watched a new user spend 5 minutes trying to close it with the "X" in the top left of the window, but this "X" does nothing.
