I'm unable to reproduce this behaviour in 15.10, so I think this bug has been fixed. This still needs to be confirmed for Trusty.

Using Manjaro Xfce with Compiz 0.9.13.1 as window manager and seeing this bug. Deactivating and again activating the key binding in the CCSM settings (General > Key bindings) "solves" the problem.

In Ubuntu 18.04 with Unity 7.5.0 I have to use the solution provided by Michael (see #7 - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1292833/comments/7).

Linux Mint here, experiencing this same problem after running `compiz --replace ccp`.
So this bug has been around for 6+ years? O_O

My workaround in Linux Mint 20.1 MATE was to add a Keyboard shortcut.
Alt+F4 runs this command:
wmctrl -c :ACTIVE:

I can also reproduce this issue on 22.04.3 LTS.

The workaround in #7 works, but I found a better workaround. Simply run compiz --replace once more and Alt+F4 is back without the need to go into CCSM nor do anything else.

Eg)
** compiz session, Alt+F4 works.
** compiz --replace, Alt+F4 no longer works
** compiz --replace (once again), Alt+F4 works again.

I hope this helps someone, until the bug is fixed. If it gets fixed.

@hexion

It's better to file a new bug on this. But install compizconfig-settings-manager. Open it, under preference , check if unity is selected or not. Also check if it is pesisted after reboot.
