Bug Description

In trusty, I have seen an old bug coming back: my mouse clicks suffer from an offset compared to what I see on screen.

This is very similar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/772612 but happening now in Trusty.
This seems to happen after compiz somehow restarts spontaneously...

I am conscious this is not a very usable bug report, but I have seen this happening 3 or 4 times in the last 2 days on my system, so I though it was worth reporting...

Sorry, I cannot reproduce this issue. Could you please provide exact steps on how to reproduce?

Also, what graphics card and driver are being used?

I can reproduce this since 14.04 (I described it on a bug to another problem: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-settings-daemon/+bug/1310745/comments/1 ).

My graphics card is from intel:
VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Zenbook Prime UX31A
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 44
Memory at f7800000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4M]
Memory at e0000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M]
I/O ports at f000 [size=64]
Expansion ROM at <unassigned> [disabled]
Capabilities: [90] MSI: Enable+ Count=1/1 Maskable- 64bit-
Capabilities: [d0] Power Management version 2
Capabilities: [a4] PCI Advanced Features
Kernel driver in use: i915

When I want to use a high resolution on my external monitor I execute:

xrandr --newmode "2560x1440_35.00" 173.58 2560 2696 2968 3376 1440 1441 1444 1469 -HSync +Vsync
xrandr --addmode HDMI1 "2560x1440_35.00"
xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode "2560x1440_35" --output eDP1 --off

While this doesn't work reliable on 14.04. anymore (other bug) the first or second time I execute these lines there is a state where the resolution is much smaller and the mouse cursor doesn't matches to the things you want to click.
