Bug Description
Since upgrading from 13.04 to 13.10 (beta) I can no longer launch applications by searching them in the dash (topmost entry in the launcher bar). Whatever I enter as a search term, the spinning circle rotates, rotates, without ever showing any results. No message about "nothing found", either. Launching applications from the command line or from the launcher bar works just fine.
To make sure we talk about the same I made a screenshot, please find it attached.
I tried to remove everything in $HOME/.cache, no change.
Then I ran unity in a terminal:
$ unity
