Bug Description

When I either click on "Lock to Launcher" or "Unlock from Launcher" nothing happens.

Ubuntu Version: 13.10
Unity Version: 7

Steps Taken:

- reinstall unity / ubuntu-desktop
- reset unity icons

Other Info:

The only way I'm able to change the icons currently is manually through "gconf" which often requires me to logout and login to take effect.

-Peter

Ok, it looks like this happenes when some of the files used by the launcher are not accessable by the current user. Check the permissions.

Same for me.
@Brian: which files do I need permission for?

I have the same problem after updating from 13.04 to 13.10.
Problems with permissions looks like most possible cause of this problem (as i can't neither lock/unlock nor reorder items).
Any ideas where to look?
Thanks

Got some time to investigate this issue. In my case that was is problem with zeitgeist-daemon which was unable to start:
[13:40:12.608448 WARNING] zeitgeist-daemon.vala:504: Can't create database: 1, there is already another table or index with this name: interpretation_old

Problem was solved by deleting it's cache db - ~/.local/share/zeitgeist/activity.sqlite

Hope this might help.

Ok, having a problem with starting gedit I found

Removing the whole zeitgeist folder resolved also the bug in this thread for me
'sudo rm ~/.local/share/zeitgeist -R'

14.04 upgraded from 12.04: at some point this problem started. I could not apply #6 or #11 because it would not allow me to delete "activity.squile" file (not even as sudo) . But I could move, however, the whole directory zeitgeist to zeitgeist.0 and that did the trick.
