Looks like the nouveau of old. Hopefully it's Mir's fault but we don't know yet.

Do you have other cards you can test on the same machine? AMD? Intel integrated?

Looking at the video again, it looks like a Nux issue drawing the Unity surfaces. I've seen many a driver-related bug (usually with Nvidia/nouveau) cause these kinds of artefacts with Unity. And in the past the solution has always been either:
  (a) Fix Nux/Unity to follow GL specs more closely; or
  (b) Upgrade the driver.

Mir is responsible for the screen as a whole. So if only part of it is wrong, it's not Mir.

We have however done XMir-specific work in the nouveau DDX to support XMir so that's a good candidate.

can't remember when, but I've hit this bug before, probably a shader issue and it has been fixed in nouveau for a while now.
