Bug Description

OS: 13.04
Platform Nexus7

After using the nexus7 in Portrait mode over the weekend, I noticed that all of the indicators in the top right side of the screen are non functional (volume/power/network/onboard/battery/bluetooth, etc) . It's also very difficult to get the menu's to stay shown on the screen after clicking on them. Sometimes you need to drag your fingers to the submenu that you want to select, just to keep the dropdown open.

1.) Switch to portrait mode via xrotate
2.) Select the Power Menu,
3.) Choose anything from the power menu
4.) Observe Behavior.

Thanks, I guess that by "applets" you mean indicators under unity? In any case the desktop team said it wouldn't do unity UI work this cycle but work on "foundations", you might want to get in touch with #ps there...

Adding to the technical piece of this bug, I also noticed that the (Suspend/Restart/Poweroff) menu buttons don't work at all when pressing the 'Side Button' on the Nexus7

Seb, I don't think this is new UI work, but rather a bug that needs to be at least triaged by the desktop team.

Thanks.

Didier, could you get it correctly triaged/assigned for the #ps team so it's tracked on the unity side for 13.04?

I believe this is actually the problem of the xinput rotation matrix not getting updated when the screen rotates. It's unlikely anything in Unity will affect this, but it needs further investigation.

I am not sure it has to do with the xinput rotation matrix. The cursor gets show in the correct positions and the indicator menu gets displayed when touched but it disappears when the finger is lifted. In the default setup (right orientation) the indicator menu stays on the screen but in all others (right, normal, inverted) it goes away. Same for the dash, it appears when orientation is right, but does not show up on clicking the ubuntu button in the 3 other cases, even though tooltips are shown.

I tried Lubuntu desktop and input keeps working fine while switching at will among all 4 screen orientations.
