GMail is working for me (it wasn't initially, but after a few minutes I got prompted to install it), but Grooveshark isn't. No prompt from the site, no icon or search results from the installed application.

Could it be related to Grooveshark's new UI?

Same here, Quantal-64.

All other webapps work, tried switching back to the old interface - no effect. Perhaps this is due to the different URL (retro.grooveshark.com) - very annoying as it was my favorite WebApp.

I've updated the Grooveshark webapp to work with the new layout. Files attached.

Just noticed my fix isn't 100%, in that for some reason it's showing up as an untitled browser page in the launcher, in addition to the webapp. It also seems to break browser functionality. Guess someone who knows what they're doing with the webapps needs to look at that. Sorry.

On the plus side, I've attached a version with a couple of improvements (just playing around with the API):
- Progress bar on launcher icon shows track progress.
- Counter emblem on launcher icon shows remaining queued tracks.

Another version with a couple new features:
- Quicklists of the different playable 'stations'...genre's, recommended etc. This'll only work if you're on the home page though.
- Notification forwarding.

Still don't know how to fix the opened in new window bug though. Javascript will likely need tidying up...noticed I was missing semicolons all over the place, and there's probably more. Price of working almost exclusively in Python for the last few months.

I have the "Untitled" icon as well but only when launching the webapp through its own launcher icon. But the webapp will also come up if it detects Grooveshark open in a tab, at least in Chromium. So I have Grooveshark as a pinned tab in my normal session instead of launching it separately.

I modified latest version posted by Alex Stefan Kaye to show a notification when a new track is played, it's attached.

Now how do we get this from an attachment back into the official
repositories?

Improved the previous solutions with respect to speed (hopefully) and used the translations from the website.
The patch is against the current version from https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/raring/unity-webapps-grooveshark/raring

Features now include:
 - basic music player functionality
 - notification on song change
 - notifications from the website are forwarded
 - queue length and remaining song length is displayed on icon
 - "sections" (genres) from website are listed in context-menu and recommended songs are added upon click
