Bug Description
This seems like a regression to me.
Under 15.04, I have set focus mode to "sloppy", as I have in many previous editions.
When there are two windows open, for instance each taking up half the screen, and I close the one over which the mouse is lying, I end up with the focus on the desktop (ie, not in any window) if there's no other window open, or in whatever window is underlying the mouse, if there is one there, even when it is not next in line (ie next highest in the focus or z stack).
I think that is "mouse" mode, not "sloppy" mode.
It used to be the case that when I close a window, the focus will go to the next window on the screen, rather than to whatever the mouse is over. This is the behaviour I still desire.
