Bug Description

Being able to search my Google Docs from the Dash is great, but the experience when I select them is horrible. It opens a browser (Chromium in my case), opens a tab, closes the tab, tells me PDF files may harm my computer, I click "Keep", then I click the file to open, then I see a read-only PDF copy of the spreadsheet I was trying to view open in a new evince window.

I have GWoffice installed and it would be ideal to be able to view the doc in GWoffice instead.

In my case, it delivers HTML versions of documents. I think it should just open the document in a GDocs window in a web browser, marking needs-design.

@David Barnett, @bilalakhtar; it should be opening the google doc in either the default web browser, or the Google Docs web app (if installed). It should not be taking the user straight to a pdf download.

It is strange that both of you are seeing different things, could I ask both of you to re-test?

thanks!

This was partly fixed in the 0.7 release of unity-scope-gdocs, which opens the Google Doc for editing (rather than for export/downloading, which was the previous behaviour) in a web browser. See bug 1041749 for more details.

It would be possible to have a preview action to open in GWOffice, or change the default action to do so, but it is not something that I have time to work on at the moment.
