Bug Description

After discussing this in the #ubuntu-unity channel with mhall119, we believe two new categories are needed

Shows
Movies

I've created a scope for the videos lens that will make shows recorded on a mythtv backend available to be searchable in Unity and streamed to the default video player. The issue I have is that none of the categories seem to work well for this content.

That's a pretty cool scope, but I'm not sure that categories would be the best way to solve this. Categories are more about the status of data than its nature. Nevertheless, as we don't have any default scope relying on this kind of filters, categories would have the benefits of being hidden when the scope is absent.

It's a tad too late for this cycle and not a critical bug fix. I'll try to have it included in 12.04.1.

@David Callé - The more I work with this, I'm starting to understand more. I've resolved what I have suggest above with filters (as it should be), but it looks like 1 more additional category could still be needed.

Currently these are the categories,

CAT_ONCOMPUTER = _("My Videos")
CAT_ONLINE = _("Online")
CAT_GLOBAL = _("Videos")
CAT_RECENT = _("Recently Viewed")
CAT_MORE_SUGGESTIONS = _("More suggestions")

IMO, there should be something named similar to "local network" that scopes could use to show things found on the network (via avahi, UPNP, my scope). That way, it's obvious to the user that a video in this catagory when they are at home isn't available on their laptop when they are at work (as it's a different network). This would also allow a scope to allow the user to download the video locally (so they could watch at work) and then it would show up nicely under "My Videos"
