unity search files folders totally unreliable

Bug Description

The search for file and folders is totally unreliable. Few examples:

- filters seem to be ignored. Selecting "all" with the mouse does not change the search results, often only "recent" files are shown

- even typing the exact name of a file it does not show up

- apparently unrelated files are shown when typing the name of a file (but not the file with the name typed)

It appears to be so useless that I'm wondering if some huge configuration parameter is wrong or missing. I made a search on the bugs or groups without success.

I would like to add an information to my previous one. During the installation of the version 11.10 I expirienced a owner trouble. I coud not log in until I modified the owner of my home (via a live distribution). Could it be that this messed somehow some indexing configuration?

an additional info: I have the feeling that the SUPER+F is searching only within the "recent file" set.

also, my previous post does not hold, in a different installation (without owning trouble at the installation) the behavior is the same: onyl the recent file set is used

I think the repository ppa:pydave/unity-lenses is empty for current Ubuntu versions (since Oneiric). No package to install or download.

I can also confirm that I've experienced this bug both on Ubuntu that came preinstalled with my laptop 12.04, 12.10 I upgraded to and then a fresh 13.04 install. Not quite sure about my other laptop but I do know that this has been bothering me for a while. At the moment it's not even recent files. It finds like 3 of the same folders no matter what I type in. It's very disappointing.
