If using the > button on greeter screen the transition to Desktop is a black screen, Enter key works fine

As described - using the > button produces a black transition, the Enter key works as expected, smooth transition with chosen Background

This may have come around with the 0.2.6-0ubuntu1 upgrade, not 100% sure. There's no way to see if the initial 'corruption' fix package works both ways, downgrading now to 0.2.5-0ubuntu1 again produces the corrupted trans.

*didn't when 0.2.5-0ubuntu1 first released, it fixed the corrupted screen bug here, now it doesn't so some other upgrade is also a possible factor

While there is occasions when one gets a black screen transition, it's not based on method used (click on or enter key
It did happen that way initally, now can see it's caysed by something else, at least here seems to be related to having multple install & switching between
So in that regard this report is invalid
