Bug Description

When shutdown action is selected from menu containing actions for suspen, hibernate and shutdown, confirmation dialog is shown, but focus stays on the password input below the dialog.

Therefore interacting with the dialog using TAB, arrow keys and Enter seems to be impossible.

Package version: 1.0.6-0ubuntu1.2

Steps to reproduce:

1. In login greeter press F10 to access shutdown menu
2. Select shutdown option using arrow keys and enter
3. Notice that confirmation dialog pops up, but focus stays in the password input

Expected result: Focus should be in confirmation dialog so it could be canceled with Esc, or items selected with TAB + enter

Actual result: Interacting with dialog is impossible with keyboard. (At least with conventional arrows, tab, esc, enter keys)

This also affects the calendar, one can open it with F10 and cursor keys but it can't be closed afterwards with the keyboard (e.g. Esc).

Why is this a low priority? I ask because the same underlying behaviour (that of not being able to use the keyboard) that I reported as Bug #1022583 is a problem for those with disabilities that make mouse/trackpad use impractical.
Do you really consider alienating disabled users a low priority?

Paul,

The issue is in progress. The fix for 986289 should also fix this. I would even mark this as a dupe of that, but I think that would lead to more of this bug being filed due to the different naming.

Thanks Matt. It sounds like they are all the same underlying input device problem and hopefully the fix bug #986289 will result in these being fixed and tested.

I checked the Bug Control guidelines and accessibility bugs should be Medium. I know that personally I didn't know this was an accessibility issue because the idea never occurred to me.

I'm marking this as a dup of bug 986289. Will set it's priority appropriately.
