Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/894484/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Yes it's really needed... Using sleepd now but it's deprecated.

I guess I caused that. Didn't notice no one else had marked themselves
as affected yet. Too funny. I guess it's too much to hope that a
Confirmed bug will be taken more seriously than a New one...

It's quite funny. Something happened to Ubuntu around the time I submitted this bug. Stuff that always just worked just stopped.

Oh, well - give it another couple of years, who knows?

I applied the attached changes to unity-greeter, thinking I'd take advantage of logind's IdleAction. However, it's not really reliable, because lightdm leaks sessions in some situations (e.g. bug 1322275), and the system idle hint never gets set because those inactive sessions are not marked idle.

That said, it'd be a step forward if unity-greeter would set the session idle hint.
