freeze with display system message regarding a display problem on log in

Bug Description
After login with my username and password, the display became black, mouse curser was stuck and changed into a "target" shape, and a display message appeard saying that there is some kind of display problem, and gave me different options to choose from (I didn't write them down). After choosing any one of the options, the screen became black and the system frooze - needed a hard reboot.
First time it ever happend on this system. + system updated about two days ago using uodate manager.
