Brightness slider has no effect - Samsung Syncmaster 204B

Ubuntu 15.10

When i go to system settings/brightness and move the brightness slider left and right, it does not change the luminosity of my screen. The screen is a samsung syncmaster 204B.

It's killing my eyes.

This works in windows on the same machine (dual boot).
