system crashes with external display (after 02/28/2015 software updates)

Bug Description

System crashes when connected to an external display, after software update on 02/28/2015. Everything was working perfectly before this update.

The resolution of the built in monitor is also having issues.

Trying to change the screen resolution, every time results in the screen freezing

installing the Intel graphics driver solved the issue

sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-intel

Thanks. This and deleting the monitors.xml file made it work for me also.
