Bug Description
In System Settings => Mouse/Trackpad there is a "General" setting to determine which is the primary button, left or right on a mouse. The problem is that if one chooses "right" it also has the affect of changing the behavior on a trackpad: it makes a one-finger tap secondary and a two-finger tap primary.
I think it would be a great improvement to separate mouse and trackpad behavior on this one. In my case, when using a mouse with my laptop hooked up to my external monitor, I use the mouse with my left hand and my index finger lands comfortably on the right button. So I want the right button to be primary.
But when I'm using the trackpad, typically when I'm out of the office, I'd much prefer one-finger tap for primary and two-finger tap for secondary. The reason why I want the right mouse-button to be primary has nothing to do with the trackpad at all. Hence, it would be a big improvement to separate these settings.
Thanks for the great OS!
