unity-control-center datetime ignores "time in auto-detected location" setting

Ubuntu considers the setting enabled, regardless of what is set.
I have verified in dconf-editor that the option is set properly.

com.canonical.indicator.datetime -> show-auto-detected-location

Disable setting mentioned in topic. Open clock indicator menu. The local timezone city plus time is shown.

Toggling the setting has no effect.
