Failed to load session "ubuntu-2d" error

performed a apt-get dist-upgrade and now getting the error message "Failed to load session "ubuntu-2d" when trying to log in to my machine.

I have access to the terminal via ctrl+alt+f1 but not gui

At mine it has crashed too. Only Unity 3D runs.

Hi Jeremiah, can you clean up (basically move or delete) the .xsession-errors file, try to start Unity2d again and attach the new .xsession-errors file? It seems to me there might be "old" information in the file you attached and I want to be sure we don't investigate old clues.

Hi Albert, I recently (2-3 days ago) did a clean install with a more recent daily image and I didn't run into the problem.
