This is a bug in Unity 2D alone in Precise.

Alt-tab key combination does not do anything. I expect it to show a window switcher.

Hi,
I'm sorry but I can't reproduce this at all. Can you check in your "System Settings" -> "Keyboard" panel, opening the "Shortcuts" tab, selecting the "Navigation" option in the left pane, and verify that the shortcut for "Switch Applications" is "Alt+Tab"?

Do other global keyboard shortcuts work ok?
Thanks for the report

I had the same thing happen after running a bunch of updates. It affected both gnome-session (fallback) and Unity-2d. Turns out that all the navigation keybindings were cleared for some reason. Really no idea why that happened.

Thanks for the pointer, Gerry.

In Unity 2D, Alt-tab still does not work, even after my last update. It only displays the window controls of the active window.

Solution for me, temporary since it sometimes disapears again.

Go to:
CompizConfig -> Switcher -> Key to start the switcher

Change from Alt+Tab to something else, close, then add Alt+Tab again.

I can update and say that it happens on _every_ startup and it does not seam like it looses the keybinding during the session thats running.

By just adding 'super+shift' to 'alt+tab', pressing ok, then removing them is the solution. (Don't choose 'ctrl' since then you need to remap by redoing the keycombination, ie. the ctrl does not dissapear.)

I experienced this problem after upgrade to Precise.
Gerry's suggestion ["System Settings" -> "Keyboard" -> "Shortcuts" -> "Navigation": "Switch Applications" ] indicated no binding for me. I set it to Alt-Tab and that solved the problem for me.

The general proble seems to be that that particular key binding [and I believe any others in that Navigation group) were wiped out or not properly migrated on upgrade.
