Panel fonts are green and blurry

In 12.04 64-bit with all latest updates the fonts in the panel appear green and slightly blurry. If I click on a panel menu, eg the me menu, then the text for that menu looks normal temporarily. I have attached a screenshot.

by any chance, if your wallpaper a green-y colour?

Its more blue but it does have green in it. I just tried a few different wallpapers, including the stock ones, and the font stays the same although some wallpapers do accentuate the problem.

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

I don't know what's causing this, but I can see this too when using the light theme, switching to the dark theme and the panel doesn't show this issue anymore. It only happens (or is visible) with the light theme.
