Bug Description

While applying updates to Oneiric over the holidays, at some point started seeing trackpad freeze on the screen. Initially this was after opening Firefox. Control would come back after reboot. After applying last batch of updates, trackpad mouse seems frozen after reboot now as well.

Plugging in an optical mouse, gets some cursor control back again. But this is a nasty one to report if you don't have an optical USB mouse handy.

System is up to date oneiric with all applied updates now, was a fresh install from release, and then daily updates applied.

From .xsession-errors file, the following might be a clue?

unity-2d-panel: [WARNING] GLib-GObject: invalid (NULL) pointer instance
unity-2d-panel: [CRITICAL] GLib-GObject: g_signal_connect_data: assertion `G_TYP
E_CHECK_INSTANCE (instance)' failed
unity-2d-panel: [CRITICAL] GLib-GObject: g_object_weak_ref: assertion `G_IS_OBJE
CT (object)' failed

What else should I look at? Anything else want attached?

Looks like recent instability from other projects has caused this to become more visible

"type: gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.mouse active false
Then close your session with: gnome-session-quit"

After logging in again - all seems to be working.
