Bug Description

When dragging from the dash to Desktop a root owned shortcut is created
ls -la shows me as the owner, but properties does not

Actually it creates a symlink, not a .desktop file. The symlink itself is owned by you - hence the `ls -la` result, but properties go deeper, checking the linked file props.

It seems that we should copy and +x the file for it to work, that's what U3D does.

I assume this is why I get the "Untrusted application launcher" when I try to drag an application from dash to the desktop. (Actually when I launch a shortcut created by dragging from dash to the desktop.)

Hi,

I am running on Ubuntu 12.04.02 (latest) and since a few days this happening to me as well??
Before then when drag-dropping files from Dash Home it created a copy of the .desktop file in my ~/Desktop folder and gave it x permissions.
Now it creates symlinks which obviously does not work: no image is displayed and its not executable.

... wonder what I did to make this happen ??? ....
