unity-2d-launcher crashed with SIGSEGV in cache()

Seems to do with the launcher. Using alt+f2 brings up the text box but when a command is entered (i.e. gksudo nautilus) the text box goes blank and freezes for a minute or 2. The command that was typed gets ignored. Also, this may or may not be related, but I have the BOINC manager in the launcher and the little arrow indicating that a program is open is ALWAYS present beside BOINC even when I manually shut down all boinc processes and close the manager.
