Bug Description

   I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 with Unity-2d.
What happened: i opened nautilus and pressed Alt+b to bring up the "Bookmarks" menu. Then pressed "a" to "Add bookmark". Worked fine. Then i clicked on the area in nautilus where my files are listed and pressed Alt+b again. The "Bookmarks" menu in nautilus was summoned, however, the subsequent keystrokes had no effect - i had to left-click on the title of the window, as if removing focus from the previously selected area. It not only happens with the bookmarks menu, but pretty much with any other shortcut i use.
The very same behavior was noticed in Firefox (Thunderbird, Remmina and Arora too, which is why I assumed it's a Unity-2d bug): in Firefox, i created a new tab and tried Alt+t to summon the "Tools" menu, then pressed "h" to bring up the "Clear All History" menu - it worked. Then i created another tab and clicked on the blank area where the pages are displayed and tried again. Alt+t successfully brought up the "Tools" menu, but subsequent keystrokes had no effect. What is more, if i click on the Location area, all the keys I press after Alt+t are typed into it. This makes keyboard shortcuts rather uncomfortable to use in Unity-2d.

Hey,
if you cannot reproduce a bug which is a bit old, please ask the
reporter if they still experience it.

If they reply it is still buggy, try to get all the information possible
about it from them. Make sure they're running Oneiric for instance!

If they reply it is fixed, then great, close away! Is good if you can
track the change that fixed things for them too.

If they don't reply, no harm. Note that bugs which are not confirmed for
90 are automatically expire.

But just saying we fixed it, or it is invalid, without checking with the
reporter, is a bit rude.

I hope you see what I mean.
Talk tomorrow, good night!

At the moment of reporting, 2011-08-24, I was running Natty (and still am), because Oneiric hadn't been released yet. After not getting any feedback for a long time, I gave up and switched to classic gnome. Plus, if I remember correctly, Unity-2d on Natty hasn't received any updates recently, so I presume the bug might still be there. Might give Unity-2d a try again and see how it goes.

Seeing I've finally got some attention, perhaps you could answer my question here: https://answers.launchpad.net/unity-2d/+question/174938

Thanks.
