Thanks for the bug report Vitaly!
Can you reproduce that bug in Unity?
Can you try with the daily build of Unity 2D available at:

https://launchpad.net/~unity-2d-team/+archive/unity-2d-daily

Changed in unity-2d:
importance: Undecided → Medium

Should anyone buying a game from USC have to manually add a ppa and install development releases? The answer is: No. Either the bug exists in unity-2d, and then it should be fixed - and no user should be forced to install development files, which could break their system - or the bug is somewhere else.

Florian, why do you assume that it's something wrong with unity? It could be the package(steel storm)?

Petter, I was only asking these things so that we know whether or not this bug has been fixed with a more recent version of Unity 2D that you can find in the PPA.
Also, knowing if the bug is present in Unity 3D will help a great deal in figuring out how to fix it.

The bug is also present in Unity 3D. And it is still present in Ubuntu 11.10.

I found the solution:
renaming the file "/usr/share/applications/Steel Storm: Burning Retribution.desktop" to "/usr/share/applications/steelstorm".

On the commandline you can do this with the command (without quotes):
"sudo mv /usr/share/applications/Steel Storm: Burning Retribution.desktop /usr/share/applications/steelstorm.desktop"

Apparently the dash is not able to parse *.deskop files with whitespaces in the filename.

I reported a separate bug about that in: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/879889
