KDE application not kept in Unity 2D launcher after logout

Binary package hint: unity-2d

I am able to add KDE applications to unity such as Kate and Konsole. However, these application icons are not saved after logging out. i.e., they are not kept in the launcher. Gnome based application such as gedit are well saved in the unity-2d launcher.
