Thank you for your concern. Unison does not seem to have any language localization files, and so presumably has never been adapted for use with gettext and libintl, which would be a required first step before a German (or any other) localization can actually happen. This is not a small task to actually undertake, although the use of gnu gettext is not that hard. This is also probably something that should happen with the cooperation of or in coordination with the original author(s) upstream rather than as a patch here. Once basic gettext libintl support is included, it is a relatively straightforward issue for the language teams to add appropriate translations.

I finally should add that since it is written in ocaml, one would actually have to use ocaml-gettext to accomplish this.
