unison fails to sync with directory create error

Bug Description
I encounter the following problem:

The problem and workaround is dokumented in the Unison Wiki, though no fix yet exists.
Furthermore I encounter the chmod() Problem, where the sync reports that it can't set the permission on files.
This renders the tool next to unusable and unreliable.
Please also note, that according to the unison web site is unison no longer under active development.
