Bug Description

Package: ukui-control-center
Version: 1.0.3-1
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

liboobs is unmaintained upstream: it was part of GNOME 2, was last
released in 2010 and had its most recent upstream git commit in
2012. Because it deals with user login accounts, it is probably also
security-sensitive. This seems like a bad combination.

(It currently also has a release-critical FTBFS bug which is likely to
get ukui-control-center and liboobs removed from testing at some point.)

ukui-control-center appears to be one of many forks of GNOME 2
gnome-control-center, using liboobs to create and configure
user login accounts. GNOME 3 (gnome-control-center), Cinnamon
(cinnamon-control-center), MATE (mate-polkit) and the non-GNOME-related
KDE Plasma (user-manager) all depend on accountsservice for similar
functionality; ukui-control-center should probably do the same. You can
probably find suitable code for this in GNOME 3's gnome-control-center
or in Cinnamon's cinnamon-control-center.
