Bug Description
Ubuntu 11.10
nautilus 1:3.2.0-0ubuntu5
Unlike in Ubuntu 11.04, nautilus now lists unmounted partitions in the left panel, and allows regular users to mount them, even if /etc/fstab specifies "nouser", and otherwise ignores options defined in /etc/fstab, if the mount point in /etc/fstab is "none". Specifying a mount point inhibits nautilus from listing the unmounted partitions.
For example, my /etc/fstab included the following:
UUID=C25CE7335C
Through nautilus, I could mount this partition, create files, and delete them, as a regular user. Obviously, given the options, this is not desired behavior. Changing the line so that there was a defined mount point, as below, inhibits this behavior, so that a regular user does not see the partition listed in nautilus:
UUID=C25CE7335C
As dual-boot configurations are common among Ubuntu users, this is likely to be a common occurrence.
