@Andy, Colin, I've noticed a significant drop-off in bug reports with the vesafb conflict since that fix went in. (Which is particularly notable since rate of bugs getting reported is definitely going up, as many users seem to be upgrading at this point.)

However, mpt seems to still be seeing what looks like basically the same issue as before. (There may be others still seeing it too, but still debugging things.) Perhaps the full brunt of the fix is not taking effect for some reason on mpt's system?

description: updated

Also see bug #740342, I was unsure if perhaps some bits hadn't fully upgraded, but looks like he did another update to latest and it occurred again.

[From the dmesg this lockup occurs prior to X loading. From the previous time through on bug #702090 we identified a range of packages that were affected. I'm targeting to one of those packages picked randomly; if it becomes clear what this should be targeted to please retarget accordingly.]

affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) → udev (Ubuntu)
Changed in udev (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed
