Bug Description

Hi,

Since an update yesterday, dapper won't boot my Thinkpad T43. If I don't touch
anything, it kicks out early on the grounds that /dev/sda7 (my root partition)
isn't there. If I edit the grub line and substitute "/dev/hda7" (which was the
device for the harddrive under hoary, but not warty or breezy), then it boots a
certain way, but then kicks out on the grounds that /etc/fstab has the wrong
name. I haven't tried editing that file yet, let me know if you want me to do
that. But I'm thinking that the drive should be sda anyhow.

Hope this helps, and that it's obvious what you need to fix. Lspci is below.

Oh, udev version is 076 ubuntu5.

It sounds like you're getting alternately different drivers claiming your
controller card...

Could you try updating today, in particular make sure you have the
linux-image-2.6.15-7-* and udev-077-0ubuntu2 packages installed, and see whether
the problem persists.

If it does, or you need help getting your machine to boot so you can upgrade it,
please grab me on IRC and we'll debug it

yeah the problem persists: ALERT! /dev/sda8 does not exist!

I missed you on irc today, so I'll try tomorrow. I'm on in the evenings, so if
we miss each other, we'll have to do it via bugzilla :)
