Bug Description

Hi,

My situation :

1 PC with 2 HDD. On the 1st one Ubuntu 10.04 is installed ; on the 2nd one Linux Mint 13 "Maya" (release = 13) with Cinnamon 1.4 and a Linux 3.2.0-23-genric (i686) Kernel installed.

With Ubuntu 10.04 i've an U1 account performing properly.
I own ~/.cache/ubuntuone ~/.config/ubuntuone ~/.ubuntuone as a regular user. There's a syncdaemon.config file in ~/.config/ubuntuone and a ~/Ubnuntu One directory.

With LM 13 the matter is : anyway i try to install U1 it can't goes on.

1st way followed :

1/ Ubuntuone-control-panel-qt installed with synaptic (U1-control-panel-qt version = 3.0.1-Oubuntu1).
2/ I can't open U1 from the dash.
3/ I put the "U1 installer" icon on my desk.
4/ I can't open U1 as a regular user : nothing happens. Watching rights on ~/.cache/ubuntuone ~/.config/ubuntuone ~/.ubuntuone shows those directories are owned as root.
5/ I open U1 as root.

Results :
1/ U1 control panel emits IPCError for "Folders" and "Settings".
2/ For "Account information" U1 control panel emits :
WebClientError
u'La poign\xe9e de main SSL a \xe9chou\xe9'
u"

Actions :
1/ I close each U1 info panel.
2/ I close U1.
3/ I notice syncdaemon.config doesn't exist in ~/.config/ubuntuone. There is zero file in this directory.
3/ I remove and purge ubuntuone-control-panel-qt and all others associated packages with synaptic.
4/ I switch off / on my PC.

2nd way followed :
1/ From indications on Noobs Lab i install one repository dedicated to LM 13 Maya : ppa:ubuntuone/stable with ubuntuone-client, ubuntuone-control-panel-gtk and ubuntuone-proxy.

Results :
In my TTY session a warning message explains dpkg failed cause of ubuntuone-control-panel-gtk depends on ubuntuone-control-panel-qt (= 3.0.1-0ubuntu1). Well...

Actions :
1/ On synaptic i see unbuntuone-control-panel-qt is 4.2.0-Oubuntu1~precise1.
2/ So, I remove the 2 "half-installed" repositories with synaptic = http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntuone/stable/ubuntu precise main and http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntuone/stable/ubuntu precise main (Code Source).
3/ I switch off / on my PC.

3rd way followed :
1/ On the same Noobs Lab tutorial page (INSTALL UBUNTU ONE CLIENT IN LINUX MINT 14/13) i notice among comments this one :
"I've removed and reinstalled many times...using this guide https://one.ubuntu.com/help/faq/how-do-i-completely-remove-and-reinstall-ubuntu-one/. Every time, it fails and fails in the same way. Is there something wrong with that guide ?"
No answer to that 4 months ago comment.

2/ In spite of that comment i try to use this ubuntu guide. In a TTY session i follow these instructions excepted the first and last one (cause i haven't a ~/Ubuntu folder) :

    killall ubuntuone-login ubuntuone-preferences ubuntuone-syncdaemon
    sudo rm -rf ~/.local/share/ubuntuone
    rm -rf ~/.cache/ubuntuone
    rm -rf ~/.config/ubuntuone
    mv ~/Ubuntu\ One/ ~/UbuntuOne_old/``

3/ Then i follow instructions "Delete Ubuntu One token" :

Firstly =
Open the Dash by clicking the Ubuntu Logo in the upper left corner. Type: Passw . Click Passwords and Encryption Keys. Go to the Passwords tab, click to expand the Password folder, delete the entry called "Ubuntu One"

Then =
In a terminal session run: sudo apt-get purge ubuntuone-client python-ubuntuone-storage*

On my LM13, i follow this way = dash/preferences/Passwords and Encryption Keys. But in my Passwords and Encryption Keys app there's nothing else except my Evolution passwords.
I skip the "apt-get purge"

4/ Then i follow instructions "Reinstalling Ubuntu One Client" :

    In a terminal session run:
    sudo apt-get install ubuntuone-client ubuntuone-client-gnome ubuntuone-control-panel-qt ubuntuone-client-proxy
    sudo apt-get install --reinstall ca-certificates

*Ubuntu SSO app will be opened that will allow you to create new Ubuntu SSO account and associate your computer with Ubuntu One

5/ Then i follow instructions "Testing The New Ubuntu One Client Install" :

Put a small text file in the newly created ~/Ubuntu One/ directory and make sure that syncs correctly, if not, please see whether this can be due to maintenance: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOne/Status

Results :
1/ I watch my ~/ directory and i see there's no newly created ~/Ubuntu One ... Neither ~/.cache/ubuntuone, ~/.config/ubuntuone or ~/.ubuntuone.
2/ In synaptic i remove and purge ubuntuone-client ubuntuone-client-gnome ubuntuone-control-panel-qt ubuntuone-client-proxy and all others associated packages
3/ I switch off / on my PC.

And now, what else ? Thank's to the team for any solution !
