Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

It happned to me with two different files already. Seems that the last file that was synced keeps syncing on every log in even though it already notified that the sync was complete. It happened to me before with a plain text file, but now it is happening with my 91MB e-book and it is very annoying.

I get 91MB upload started every time I start a my session..

Sorry to hear that Ubuntu One is not working as expected. Thank you for filing a bug on the issue. We would need the client log to start analyzing the problem. Could you please zip your $HOME/.cache/ubuntuone/log/ folder and attach the zip here. You can zip the folder by right-clicking on it and selecting compress. Attach the logs to this bug report using the 'Add Attachment or Patch' button at the bottom of the page.

After you attach the logs you can change the 'Status' of your bug back to 'New'. The status of a bug report can be modified by clicking on the current status in the yellow line, which will reveal a sub menu. You can then set a new status in the drop down box.

thank you,

Hello,
thanks for the answer. Here You have the log. The two files that I noticed this behavior on were Compiz-Elpraga-netbook-pared.profile and Unmasking the face - Paul Ekman.pdf (this is the big one). When I was looking at the files now, the .pdf is marked as being synced in Nautilus, nevertheless the pop up notification told me that the sync had completed already (and it should have completed, because I have this session opened for many hours now)

I'd be very happy if You could find the cause of this problem.

elPraga,
Thank you for getting back to us so quickly with the logs. We noticed something strange with one of the files. Could you please run the following command in a Terminal and post the output. That would help us a lot. Thank you.

 sha1sum '/home/tomas/Libros/Calibre/Paul Ekman/Unmasking the face (7)/Unmasking the face - Paul Ekman.pdf'

Hello,
thanks for the answer. This thing is really annoying. It eats almost all my
internet conection for a good while every time I log in. Here is the output:

tomas@Ubuntu-Natty:~$ sha1sum '/home/tomas/Libros/Calibre/Paul
Ekman/Unmasking the face (7)/Unmasking the face - Paul Ekman.pdf'
7ddc407be1db3aab806b2f3a0706017f9b44b1d6 /home/tomas/Libros/Calibre/Paul
Ekman/Unmasking the face (7)/Unmasking the face - Paul Ekman.pdf
tomas@Ubuntu-Natty:~$

Please note, that before I had the same problem with the other file I
mentioned earlier. It also kept uploading itself every time I logged in,
only was much smaller. When the big .pdf file started to behave like this,
the previous one stopped bothering me..

Thanks for help.

It is great to see some activity on this bug! It is quite annoying to have
the internet almost blocked for some 15-20 minutes every time I logg in..

Is there any hope for fix on this bug?

I have the same problem I think.
Usually big files get uploaded to 100% (but I do never get the sync complete).
I have fast internet connection and it works great with other simular sites like dropbox.

Exactly like in the bug #575817, after I have put a file (400 MB) in the Ubuntu One sync folder and it is uploaded (u1sdtool --current-transfers has shown that all bytes have been sent), u1sdtool –waiting-content
shows the file still. Also The GUI on Nautilus mark the file as still being synced. The web interface does not list the file, though time stamp has probably changed. I have been able to reproduce this with several large files. The syncing also stops leaving other (large) files without being synced.

The command
u1sdtool --waiting-metadata | wc -l
gives:
0
