Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client
After logging in, I must always manually tell Ubuntu One to connect via the system tray icon. I am not using wireless so there is no race condition between network becoming available and Ubuntu One connecting.

Please update the "ubuntuone-client" & "ubuntuone- storage- protocol" packages, restart your computer & see if your problem has been solved.
