Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

U1 is performing its first sync since linking this computer. While it has 1.6GB worth of files (many thousands) to sync it tells me "Updating 4 of 6 files" then "U1 has finished updating 6 files" then "Updating 1 of 1 file" etc. etc. This provides absolutely no useful information on how many files are to be synced and what the progress is. It is also impossible to tell when it is in fact done.

Also, at present the applet is telling me "Your files are up to date" (they are decidedly not), while u1sdtool reports active transfers (of directories it seems):

eduard@maanbox:~$ u1sdtool --current-transfers
Current uploads: 0
Current downloads:
  path: /home/eduard/Ubuntu One/Research/Philosophy/HIV ethics
    deflated size: N/A
    bytes read: 0
eduard@maanbox:~$ u1sdtool --current-transfers
Current uploads: 0
Current downloads:
  path: /home/eduard/Ubuntu One/Research/Philosophy/marxism
    deflated size: N/A

Because of the way the protocol works, we don't have (at first) a full-tree view of the changes waiting to be downloaded.
Rodney: shouldn't we be handling directories differently, and not pushing notification messages for them? Only for files? Because we only start downloading the files in earnest when we've gotten the whole tree (and by then, we know for real how many files we need to get).
