Attaching xz with JPG and PNG files.

I tried crushing the PNG, but couldn't get it any smaller. The online tools I have used previously did manage to save 20%, but at the expense of worsening the banding. The PNG is 2.3MB, the JPG is 651KB.

I actually think the JPG looks a bit better. Look at the diagonal in the bottom right 3rd for example, there's more detail to the line.

There appears to be a mistake with the greyscale wallpaper, in the top right there is a square in the greyscale variant while the coloured variant has a diagonal line.

It is only very faint but is noticeable when used as a wallpaper.

Thanks for the bug report!

It took me a while, but I think I can see it. It looks like a rendering artifact, but I will ask the designers to take a look.

Cheers!

Will, can we have it, please?

We can do a 19.04.1 as and when a fixed version is produced, if necessary.

Attaching the final version. The greyscale versions now have the box removed. I've kept the original colour ones though, as the banding is less pronounced but the filesize is slightly larger. The JPG colour image comes in at 665k. I've tried crushing the PNG but was not happy with the results.

This bug was fixed in the package ubuntu-wallpapers - 19.04.1-0ubuntu1

---------------
ubuntu-wallpapers (19.04.1-0ubuntu1) disco; urgency=medium

  * New default wallpapers for disco (LP: #1819744).
+ Again the png is actually a jpg.
+ Again there are not yet contest wallpapers, so no
ubuntu-wallpapers-disco package is being created at this point. The
greyscale wallpaper is being included in ubuntu-wallpapers itself for
      now.

It's cool that the box is removed but a small thing I noticed is that the greyscale version still does not quite match the patterns on the coloured version.
In the colured version there are two diagonal lines to the top right of the Dingo, however in the updated greyscale version there is only one.

My best guess is that the element for the second line accidentally had it's rotation reset in the original greyscale image and was removed entirely for the updated version?

Either way both wallpapers look awesome and I am excited to see them being used as the default in 19.04 :)
