Bug Description

I hesitate to say "hard to read" since it's legible. But the text is not as clear as other browsers. I've attached screenshot comparisons for chrome and webbrowser-app.

Not only does the text color seem whiter that I'd like, but it is also very thin (maybe we're using the Light font variant?).

I’m guessing this is on desktop xenial, right?
On my wily setup, the text on tabs looks much more readable, even though not as high contrast as chrome. See attached screenshot.

Could it be a more general text rendering issue with the UITK on xenial?
The widget that’s used to draw the text on tabs is defined here: https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~phablet-team/webbrowser-app/trunk/view/head:/src/app/webbrowser/TabItem.qml#L66.
Its size is set to "small", and its color is not set (it’s using the default color).

Yes, I'm on desktop xenial.

I confirm that it’s a more general problem with the UITK in xenial. Attached is a capture of the settings screen taken in a xenial VM.

affects: webbrowser-app (Ubuntu) → ubuntu-ui-toolkit (Ubuntu)

Yes, I noticed the same that the colors in denial somehow are screwed. There has to be something with Qt 5.5.1 again which causes the issue.

Maybe related (?): the text is not vertically centered inside TextFields. Attaching a screenshot of the toolkit gallery that demonstrates this, and another screenshot of the browser, where this is even more visible because the fontSize is set to small.

Olivier, that vertical alignment issue is bug 1531293.
