ubuntu-desktop-next package does not install

Bug Description
Using apt-get to install the ubuntu-desktop-next package on Ubuntu 14.10 amd64 it does not automatically install one particular dependency that is very much available for installation through apt-get without making any changes to the default sources configuration. Here's the error I received:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
ubuntu-
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
Once I explicitly installed packagekit, ubuntu-desktop-next installed just fine.

I can confirm this, the problem seems to be:
The following packages have unmet dependencies: aptdaemon. pkcompat : Conflicts: packagekit but 0.8.17-4ubuntu4 is to be installed.
python3-
The following actions will resolve these dependencies:
Keep the following packages at their current version: aptdaemon. pkcompat [Not Installed]
1) python3-
The apt resolver seems to choke on the fact that something pulls in libpackagekit, which recommends either python3- aptdaemon. pkcompat or packagekit, and it doesn't seem to know which one to choose.
Should ubuntu-desktop-next depend on packagekit directly?
