background image from gallery can't be re-centered

Bug Description
If for the background image one wants to choose a photo from the gallery, and this is too wide (let's say, landscape-oriented) you can't choose which part of the picture should make it to the background

I would think you would edit the photo in the gallery before setting as the background.
But, I realize there is no way to make a copy of a photo to do such an exercise while retaining the original.
