Bug Description

I went to the updates screen and applied all the updates. As you can see on the attached screenshot, the download is already over 100%, and still downloading.

This is on arale, vivid #167.

Thanks, can you attach the .cache/ubuntu-download-manager/ubuntu-download-manager.log and .cache/upstart/application-legacy-ubuntu-system-settings.log to the bug?

thanks, the u-d-m log shows an hash error, could be that the service gets confused in such cases

I suspect it's download manager, because the first screenshot clearly shows that the download length is bigger that the transferred total: "911 kB out of 867kb"

The other option may be that there has been some server change that's exposing this bug. I'm adding the server components of the store to this bug so it can be checked there too.

I don't think we've changed the download side of the server in a long time.

The size reported by click-package-index is 867687 which matches the UI.

Downloading the file gives a file of that size, and wget reported that many bytes
transferred.

This suggests to me a client issue, but we can look again if you have more
evidence that it is the server.

The hash error in the logs suggests that it may be counting bytes for a redownload,
or possibly that the client downloaded too much somehow, and that led to the
hash error.

Thanks,

James

Seems very much like bug #1450144 we detected first on Capomastro but actually is u-d-m's fault. That bug contains lots of logs and screenshots and test scenarios for anyone interested. So, right now, I counted 5 different bugs related to this issue. Seems pretty critical to me...
