Bug Description

When checking for updates in the 'Updates' screen the text says 'Checking for update...'.

This is inconsistent with the title of the screen which uses the plural 'Updates'. The message text should probably also use the plural form and say 'Checking for updates...'

This is on Ubuntu 14.10 (r20).

status: New → Invalid

thanks, but the source is using "checking for updates...", what language do you use? likely a translation issue...

I'm using English (UK) for the language.

And looking at http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/utopic/ubuntu-system-settings/utopic-proposed/view/head:/po/en_GB.po#L1786 (which I assume is the right place) it's ok in the translation file as well.

But it's definitely wrong on my device! (see attached)

It says checking for update in the default English US on the BQ!
Turns out the text is being truncated because there is a hidden retry button that limits the space.

I guess it's a duplicate of bug #1421967 then, which is fixed in vivid but not in rtm (yet)
