Bug Description

Hi!

I had an Ubuntu update.
I click in "Install", then the button changes to "Install...".

After a while waiting, I click in "Install..." button again and it asked me: Reboot for apply.

It not intuitive that. You could change the button text to: "Need reboot".

Thanks in advance!

Can you please clarify where exactly you are seeing this behavior? It does not sound like the click scope. Is this for the system image update?

Thanks, but what dialog are you talking about? Clicking on install opens a dialog with a button "install & restart", so it does mention that you need to restart ...

Hi Sebastien!

I haven't another "ubuntu" update for record in video.

When I had the "ubuntu" update, my behavior was:
1. Click on "Install"
2. Appears to be updating > OK
3. In one moment (I'm supposing when the package was updated), the
button "Install" changed to "Install...". Nothing more messages or
feedback.
4. After 1', nothing happen... Then I clicked in the "Install..."
button again for "reinstall" the update, then the dialog "install &
restart" appears
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareUpdates?action=AttachFile&do=get&target=phone-update-prompt.png)

If I have another update, I'll try to record in video.
Best regards!

Please, see this pictures (in filename order):

These were my steps:
1.jpg: Yep! :) New updates!
2.jpg: Click in "Install" for Ubuntu package > Download in progress.
3.jpg: Finished the download > BUG = No message about to restart. Just the same screen as in the 1.jpg.
4.jpg: I click again in "Install" button.
5.jpg: Finally I see the Restart dialog.

costales, in both Firefox and Chromium, that link just shows a spinner and nothing else. And the front page of the site says that it will be “discontinued on May 1, 2016”. Could you attach the images to this bug report please?

Hi Thomas :)

Today I have the OTA 9.1 update, then I made a screenshot.

Issue: After download the update, you need to click "Install" button. This is not so intuitive.

Offtopic: It was nice to met you in person! A big hug mate!! :)

Thanks.

Here’s what’s supposed to happen:
<https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareUpdates#presenting-individual>
* If a system update does not download automatically, the button should say “Download”.
* When the download completes:
    - If you are currently on the “Updates” screen, you should get the installation prompt immediately.
    - If you aren’t, and come back to it later (or if you cancel the prompt), the button should say “Install…”, and bring up the same prompt.

I just tested this with Ubuntu 15.04 r260, and it all happens exactly as expected. So, I don’t understand the problem here.

There are two cosmetic problems with the list item once the update has downloaded, which I’ve reported as bug 1546571 and bug 1551173. But they don’t affect the function of the button.

I think in the beginning (when the phone was released) the label text was
"Install" & "Install" :)
Then, please, close this bug. Thanks for the feedback |o/
