Bug Description

Prerequisite: You should already have taken a photo with the Krillins camera

1. Open the System Settings application
2. Open the Background panel
3. From the 'Custom' section select 'Add an Image'
4. Choose the image that you took with the phones camera from the gallery
5. Confirm that the image appears in preview correctly and press 'Set'
6. Confirm that the image is selected in the Background panel
7. Press the power button twice, to return the phone to the lock screen
8. Confirm that the image is shown as the background on the lock screen

Steps 5 and 8 fail since the image is black

This is very similar behaviour to : https://launchpad.net/bugs/1373462, but might not be a duplicate since when that bug was reported, Krillin camera images did work.

Thanks, that's a content-hub issue it seems, it fails to copy those pictures. Note that the camera resolution changed which might explain only why new pictures have the issue

affects: ubuntu-system-settings (Ubuntu) → content-hub (Ubuntu)
Changed in content-hub (Ubuntu):

that's a different issue from the preview one, but on rtm 61 content-hub displays errors about the copy failing and the system log have apparmor denies from gallery on chmod calls, not sure if those are the same issue though

This failure first occured in image #58 with the following changelog:

cameraplugin-aal looks suspect

The bug was there before that image (see the bug you listed in the description), it seems to fail for big images and that update increased the default quality which is making the new pictures hit the bug

the apparmor warning is bug #1359831, not sure about the "fail to copy" error, it seems to be displayed by content-hub-service even when the copies works

Changed in content-hub (Ubuntu):
importance: High → Low

I don't think this is really a different issue. I can't reproduce it on krillin with the fixes for the bug 1373462 in place. The copy failures in the log could be misleading, if the copy really failed you shouldn't even make it to the Preview screen.

I'm confident this is really a dupe of bug 1373462
