According to VarLogDistupgra deMainlog. txt, you do not have the ubuntu-desktop metapackage installed. The upgrade is attempting to resolve this, but is failing probably because the package has not been present on your system.
Please re-install ubuntu-desktop, and then try the upgrade again. I also notice you have some PPAs enabled. If you still have issues, try removing the PPA packages with the ppa-purge tool.
