Bug Description

After today trying `do-release-upgrade -d` on an iMac running Kubuntu 20.10, the system now fails to boot, staying at the initial Mac white screen.

(Trying to manually chroot/update-grub or using Boot-Repair does not solve the problem.)

Using boot-repair to disable secureboot (purging and reinstalling GRUB2) now allows booting again.

This is likely a duplicate of bug 1925010. What does "sudo dmesg | grep EFI" return? If there is any EFI information from your current dmesg please look in older files in /var/log/. Thanks in advance.
